Yabwanya launches manifesto tomorrow

 

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) presidential hopeful Willy Yabwanya Phiri will on Friday officially launch his manifesto at Cross Roads Hotel in Lilongwe.

The Canada-based FAM presidential aspirant arrived in the country on Tuesday evening through the Kamuzu International Airport for December 12 FAM polls scheduled for Mangochi.

According to National Referees Committee general secretary Chris Kalichero, whose body nominated Yabwanya, the FAM aspirant will have a full rest today before the manifesto launch and proceeding to the presidential race debate organised by Zodiac Broadcasting Station (ZBS) at Bingu International Conference Centre on Saturday.

“All the stakeholders including affiliates, journalists, club officials, players and analysts are invited to attend the launch of the manifesto,” he said.

In his manifesto, Yabwanya pledges to improve the welfare of players, inject resources into grassroots football and increase affiliates’ annual subvention from K150 000 to K1 million.

He has also promised to introduce electronic ticketing system and pension scheme for players.

Meanwhile, incumbent president Walter Nyamilandu is also set to launch his fourth-term manifesto at Sunbird Capital in Lilongwe on Saturday while the other FAM presidential candidate Wilkins Mijiga has planned to launch his manifesto on Monday, December 7 at a venue to be announced later. n
