Norwegian and Dan Church Aid Malawi senior programme officer Wezzie Matsimbe has assured young women in Neno of support to enhance their active participation in party politics.

She said this on Wednesday during a visit to Ligowe and Chisomo groups under its Young Women in Active Politics Project.

Matsimbe said they will advocate for young women to take leadership positions in parties.

Matsimbe: The project has given women skills

“The project has given women skills to contribute to sustainable development in the district; hence, they can lead in parties,” she said.

Ligowe group member Venusita Rich said she was preparing to contest for ward councillor in the 2025 Tripartite Elections.

“I commend the project for helping young women to pursue their political ambitions,” she said.

The European Union-funded project, which strives to increase representation of young women aged between 15 and 35 as political party members and leaders, is being implemented by Women’s Legal Resources Centre in the district.
