Elections for Regional Youth Football Associations are set to take place in February, National Youth Football Association (NYFA) has announced.
NYFA has since forwarded to its affiliates the draft statutes that will be adopted before the elections.
General secretary Chimango Munthali said the statutes have information guiding the regional elections process.
“We are having regional youth football association’s elections in February. We have so far produced statutes pertaining to operations of the regional associations and elections.
“Our focus is that regional youth football association should have powers to implement programmes at that grass roots level,” he said.
Only district youth football committee members will be allowed to vote.
“During our annual general meeting (AGM) held in Zomba in November, we agreed that only districts youth football committee members will be eligible to vote. We have stopped the old system where teams were part of the voting system,” he said.
The positions include chairperson, vice-chairperson, general secretary, vice-general secretary, treasurer and five executive members.
For one to vie for a position they have to be nominated by one of the district youth football committees. n
