Youths in traditional authorities (T/As) Tambala and Kachere in Dedza have called for transparency in the disbursement of revolving loans under the National Economic Empowerment Fund (Neef).

They said this on Tuesday during a meeting with  local structures facilitated by Youth Initiative for Community Development.

Bwanali: Ensure transparency in Neef loans

In her remarks, Kachere Youth Network chairperson Monica Captain said village development committees and area development committees (ADCs)  agreed to follow the social contract they signed and Neef guidelines when identifying beneficiaries.

However, Tambala ADC chairperson Esinta Samson said loan repayment should be within the specified period to allow others to benefit.

Youth Initiative for Community Development  executive director Andrew Bwanali said structures should take a leading role to ensure that there is transparency in identifying beneficiaries.

With support from Tilitonse Foundation, Youth Initiative for Community Development is implementing Enhancing Transparency and Accountability on Neef Loan Scheme in the district.
