Zabweza Stars last Saturday walloped Zomba Airwing Social Football Team 9-1 at the Soldiers’ backyard in the Countrywide Social Football Tournament.

Milward Kondowe scored a hat-trick whereas Pilirani Kachulu scored his first ever goal for Zabweka in the 10th minute after pouncing on a back pass.

Davie Munthali, Lemani, Amon, Baggio and Abel were also on target for Zabweka.

Featuring a lethal combination of Phillip Mkulichi and Kachulu upfront, Zabweka played with verve from the first whistle and found the net just two minutes into the game when Kondowe pounced on a cross from Tiwonge Sikwese.

Airwing goalkeeper Joseph Gurus had a busy day, making crucial saves and picking the ball from the net three times in the opening 30 minutes.

This forced coach Corporal Easther Simbeye to substitute him in the 35th minute for Peter Matewere.

At half-time, the score was five nil.

The second half saw Airwing substituting their second-choice goalkeeper for Thomson Chatuluka.

Airwing scored their consolation goal in the 75th minute from Oscar Ngamuti’s free-kick was headed home by John Nyirenda.

Airwing captain Corporal Felix Thole saluted Zabweka Stars for the five-star performance and blamed his team’s loss on poor preparations.

Zabweka Stars Captain Peter Longwe was all smiles and promised continued good performance of his team.
