Zahara returns to Malawi February

Blantyre lovers of the South African soulful artist Zahara need to hold their breath as indications are rife that she will jet into the commercial city in February.

Renowned for her train-pushing Loliwe hit, Zahara, returns to Malawi under a Mango Entertainment banner.

The outfit’s director Steve Kamanga, flanked by newly roped in co-directors James Makunje and Lonjezo Mwale, said hosting Zahara is one of four major concerts in 2013.

“This is our way of making our presence felt in Blantyre and Malawi. We will soon announce the exact dates and venues for the concert where the cream of Malawi music will also perform,” said Kamanga, who is also manager for Afro-pop artist Dan Lu.

According to Mwale, apart from hosting international artists, the crew is putting a reality TV show on the cards.

“We want to bring well-organised shows, with issues of international acts failing to fulfil their indications of coming to Malawi a thing of the past. We want to restore transparency and accountability,” said Mwale.

Before the Zahara affair, Mango Entertainment hosted several shows for local acts in Blantyre and Lilongwe. These include Piksy, Dan Lu, Kumbu and Young Kay, among others.

Zahara performed in Malawi in September last year on invitation by Standard Bank.
