Will return to Mozambique: Zakazaka

Former Big Bullets striker Jimmy Zakazaka will not return to The People’s team as rumoured on the TNM Super League outfit’s Facebook page.

The talk about Zakazaka’s homecoming to Bullets was sparked by the player’s featuring in one of the team’s training sessions at the College of Medicine Sports Complex few days ago.

But Zakazaka’s relative, who pleaded for anonymity, said his featuring in the side’s training session was a one-off activity as he is in the country for a medical test before he goes back to his Mozambican club Costa Do Sol soon.

“It is not true that Jimmy is rejoining Bullets. He only had a one-off training session after having some exercises at the Sports Complex gym. At present, he is at home in Rumphi and soon he will be heading back to Mozambique,” said the source.

The source promised to help The Nation with the Flames forward’s mobile phone number but he had not done so as we went to press.

The Nation reported on February 12 this year that the top Mocambola League side wanted to terminate Zakazaka’s two-year-contract prematurely after a medical test showed that he had a heart problem.

The footballer signed for Costa Do Sol about two months ago in a deal that is expected to earn him almost K15 million (K7.5 million per year) as signing-on fee.

He joined the Mozambican side at the expiry of his contract with South African National First Division (NFD) side Cape Town FC.

During his prime at Bullets about a decade ago, he became a top goalscorer in a number of competitions, including the Super League.
