Flames attacker Jimmy Zakazaka remained in the hunt for South Africa First Division Golden Boot race after bagging a double on Friday night for his African Warriors.

Zakazaka was the hero of the night as Warriors beat Chippa United 2-0 at the Philippi Stadium in Cape Town, according to www.psl.co.za.

“The visitors got off to the best possible start when they scored within the opening minute, Malawian striker Jimmy Zakazaka finishing with a clinical header from a corner kick. They had to wait however until 15 minutes from the final whistle to seal the win, Zakazaka scoring again after the home defence failed to properly clear a cross from the left,” reported the website.

Zakazaka took his tally to seven goals, lying fourth in the golden boot race, three behind leading scorer, Petrus Zwelinjane on Chippa.

Zakazaka might emulate compatriot Atusaye Nyondo who scooped the top scorer honour on 14 goals last season while at Carara Kicks, paving way for his high-profile move to Super Sport United.

The win took Warriors to the sixth place on 33 points from 23 games while University of Pretoria lead the standings on 43 points before weekend games.

In another First Division match played on Saturday, Peter Wadabwa’s Thanda Royal Zulu lost 4-1 to Witban Spurs. Zulu are third on 38 points.
