About 10 amateur champions, who will represent Malawi at the Zone VI games in Zambia next month, will curtain-raise the international non-title fight between Chimwemwe Chiotcha and Zimbabwean Brian Mwando on Sunday.

Super Magic Boxing Promotions chief executive officer, Daud Chikwanje, on Tuesday said they want to give the youngsters a platform to prepare for the games.

Normally, amateurs are not allowed to curtain-raise professional bouts.

“We have compromised the procedures so that the amateurs can get a feel of a huge atmosphere which they will face in Zambia,” said Chikwanje.

He said Mwando arrived in the country a fortnight ago and the two boxers have intensified training.

“There have been complaints by fans on poor performance of international boxers. Get assured that Mwando is in good shape and is working hard to get a win against Chiotcha,” said Chikwanje.

This is a rematch after Chiotcha got a seventh round knockout win in their first meeting last year.
