“The Zathu Band characters continue on their journeys of self-discovery while channelling their own strengths, growing through their challenges and supporting each other as friends, and also as a band,” said Karonde.

She said this time, they will focus sexual reproductive health on the human papillonavirus (HPV) vaccine for nine-year-olds which protects against cervical cancer.

“Also because of Covid-19, we will be giving out information on prevention,” she said.

Karonde added that Zathu has taken interest in the vaccine as a means of helping the Malawi government in the cause.

“Zathu is in a partnership with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance working alongside the Ministry of Health to help deliver these messages,” she said.

Karonde said the plan is to ensure that parents and children are informed about the vaccine.

In a separate interview, one of Zathu members, Theresa Phondo, who plays Mphatso, said fans should be on the lookout for more exciting stories plus new features.

She said: “Season Seven of Zathu will see presenters C-Zee and DJ Goxy travel around the country while meeting different young Malawians as they share their inspiring stories with the duo.

The Timve Kwa Inu section carries different conversations around seeking the right healthcare information and sharing the benefits of open conversations with their friends as they are growing up,” n
