Zathu in new talent search

Zathu Band, which is an extension of the Zathu Pa Wailesi youth-centred radio drama series, is on a recruitment drive as it searches for new talent to beef up its cast.

Zathu Pa Wailesi, said in a statement the exciting radio show is growing and that this is a chance for young talented youths to join the incredible cast.

“Malawi’s biggest youth brand is giving young performers the golden opportunity to live their Zathu dreams. Youths from across Malawi now have the chance to join Zathu band, a captivating mixed gender band which is part of the Zathu Pa Wailesi drama,” reads the statement.

New members will be selected according to their ability to sing, act and dance. The auditions are open to girls and boys between the age of 16 to 20 who are fluent in both oral and written English and Chichewa.

The applicants are required to send their applications by sending a video of themselves singing a verse and a chorus of any song of their choice. They may use instruments or sing acappella and they should send their entry through WhatsApp.

Zathu spokesperson Zilanie Gondwe said the cast of the drama and music series is being expanded to meet the demands from fans.

She said they are hoping to get on board the best talent to complement the team they have. The multi-platform Zathu initiative was launched in April 2017 and it gives a chance to young people to create drama, music and narrative music videos that engage and entertain  audiences. n
