Zathu Pa Wailesi airs today

Zathu Pa Wailesi, a youth radio show that aims at encouraging platonic friendships among the youth is set to hit the airwaves for the first time today April 24, on Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS), Yoneco FM, Voice of Livingstonia radio and Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) radio 2.

The show revolves around a group of six young Malawians as they try to overcome challenges while chasing their dreams in a society that puts them under pressure from the various social ills present.IMG 20170423 WA0006 | The Nation Online

The stories that the drama focuses on will also take an approach that will strive to echo the lives of millions of young people across the country.

Listeners will also get a chance to seek advice from the shows elder, Gogo, who will be answering questions on life issues from the shows young listeners.

Recently, Girl Effect, the organizers who came up with the concept have been engaging in road shows across the country together with their newly formed band,Zathu band  that is expected to be releasing songs, and has since released a video for their theme song “Zimatere”.

The characters that are in the drama are the ones that have formed the Zathu band that is fusing a distinctly Malawian sound with modern rhythms, and the band is  expected to make several performances across the country.

The show will have youthful presenters, Lily Banda and Dj Goxy as the show is targeting the youth, playing music and giving boys and girls a chance to hear from their peers and role models on a wide range of topics.

The band has also collaborated with local artist, Faith Musa, who writes and produces the songs.

According to Girl Effect, the show aims at inspiring a new generation to forge a more equal nation where every young person can thrive.

The Youth Radio show was officially launched on Friday in Lilongwe with electrifying performances by Zathu Band Faith Mussa, Sangie, Rina and KBG.
