Mozambique-based Mkanda and facilitator of the trials, Charles Martin of Siyabvuma Agency, confirmed the development on Tuesday.

Mkanda, who plays for top Mozambican club Liga Maculmana, said he started the trials on Monday.

“It is true, I am here for trials that will last five days, but its premature to say anything about my chances of being signed since I only started yesterday [Monday].

“However, I will give out something extra to impress,” he said.

He also said the presence of another Flames defender Limbikani Mzava and team manager John Maduka at the club is a source of inspiration for him.

“He has a good attitude and gives out his best, so let us see how it goes; otherwise, it would be a boost to the country should he be signed,” said Maduka.

If he is signed, Mkanda will be the sixth Malawian player in the PSL. The others are Mzava, Harry Nyirenda, Robert Ng’ambi, Atusaye Nyondo and Robin Ngalande.
