Zimbabwe Warriors have confirmed their trip to Malawi next week for a friendly game against the Flames.

The friendly was in doubt following the two teams’ pairing for the forthcoming Cosafa Cup in Zambia in July.

However, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda told a news conference on Monday that Zimbabwe have confirmed their coming to Malawi for the game slated for Kamuzu Stadium on May 25.

“They will come by road. Their delegation will be of 30 people and they will arrive in the country on May 23,” he said.

He also said FAM has got a concept from Fifa on making the game an official full international friendly game which will have a bearing on the Coca-Cola Fifa rankings.

The Flames started camp on Monday afternoon in preparation for the game against Zimbabwe.

About 26 local players were expected to report for camp. The South Africa-based players will join the camp next Monday. Meanwhile, FAM is trying to get special release for the Mozambique-based players as the game falls out of the Fifa calendar.

The Zimbabwe game is in preparation for two Fifa 2014 World Cup Group F matches against Namibia and Kenya in June.
