Zingani authors Chakwera biography

Renowned author Willie Zingani yesterday unveiled the biography of President Lazarus Chakwera titled Chakwera: The Journey to the Presidency.

The book was brought to the public at the Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during the commemoration of Chakwera and his administration’s 100 days in power.

Said Zingani: “It was at my uncle David Rubadiri’s funeral [on September 15 2018] that I sold you the idea to write your biography. Finally, here is the work.”

This is an addition to Zingani’s books which also include Kugwira Njakata, Madzi Akataika, Njala Bwana, Nkhondo Siimanga Mudzi and Ndaziona Ine, among others.

While working as a Presidential Press Secretary, Zingani researched for former president Bakili Muluzi’s Democracy with a Price.

Malawi Writers’ Union president Mike Sambalikagwa Mvona hailed Zingani for the book, referring to him as a prolific writer.

He said: “This is a book that has come in good time. There is a lot Malawians can learn from the President’s life. “We only wish the book had a separate launch, apart from being part of the 100 days of Chakwera’s presidency. The book needs a separate celebration and launch.”
