Zingwangwa Chibuku Tavern has been turned into a resource centre following the handing of the building to Young Achievers for Development (YAD) by Chibuku Products Limited (CPL) in August.

The building was officially upgraded last Saturday into a community resource centre that will be accessible to youths surrounding Zingwangwa.

YAD president Jefferson Milanzie said the centre will be providing information and communication technology (ICT) services, recreation and rehabilitation, capacity building and skills development, HIV and Aids counselling and testing and early childhood development (ECD) services.

“We are expected to spend K13 million in the upgrading process. Through membership contribution, we have managed to buy iron sheets, river sand and 5 000 bricks,” he said.

Corporate affairs manager for CPL Wise Chauluka said they gave the tavern to YAD after being satisfied with the project.

The centre will be called ‘Tingathe Community Multipurpose Resource Centre.’
