He is a 23-year-old student currently studying for a marketing diploma at Malawi Adventist University, but he has already started creating waves on the music industry. Kelly Kamwiri, who trades as Kell Kays in showbiz, started pursuing a music career in 2012 when he was featured by Barry One in the track Udziwe. And with that exposure, the young artist took the opportunity with both hands.

This week, Kell Kays’ track Wabwino is on position three in Zodiak TV’s Fresh Entertainment Lockdown Urban Chart.

To cap it all, the artist is featured in Martse’s new song Mwano, which is currently topping the chart.

And another of Kell Kay’s songs, which features Penetrator, has been on the same chart.

“My secret in all this success is that I put God first before any project so that is why I am taking making strides in all the 10 tracks I have done,” said the Zomba-bred musician.

On May 20, the artist dropped a new single Ndikadzavula Ovololo on the Malawi Music website.

“Ndikadzavula Ovololo is giving me hope that I will make it in the industry because it is one of my tracks that is being played on MBC Radio 2 and other radio stations. The song joins my other singles such as Ndilole Ndipite, Matama, Ndavomeleza which features Lilia, Wabwino featuring Penetrator, Ndakufila featuring Gwamba and Mwano in which I also was featured by Martse,” he said.

Kell Kays, who has no plans for a mixtape release, says working with Janta S U Records, Tricky Beats and DJ Sleey has made him a better artist
