Southern Region Women Football League (SRWFL) side Zomba City Queens were on Saturday engaged in cleaning Zomba Bus Depot.

The exercise involved removing waste and sweeping in the bus terminal.

Zomba City Queens coach Richard Chipungu said the move was in line with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) the team signed with Zomba City Council (ZCC) in July this year.

Said Chipungu: “In the MoU, we are required to carry out such activities as one way of appreciating the support we get from the council.

“As you might be aware, our sponsorship for last season was terminated in June and we were asked to make a fresh bid which we did. This is one of the activities in the MoU.”

One player, Kawanangwa Kamanga, hailed ZCC for accepting to bankroll the team this season.

“On behalf of my fellow players, I would like to thank ZCC for coming to the rescue of the team. This is one way to show our appreciation and we promise to remain committed to the MoU by carrying out such activities because the sponsorship is a motivating factor to the players,” she said.
