Communities in Traditional Authority Mbiza in Zomba District have received materials from Future Vision Ministries to enhance their efforts in fighting the novel coronavirus (Covid-19)  pandemic.

Speaking during the handover on Saturday, the faith-based organisation’s country manager Newton Sindo said they donated buckets and soap to traditional leaders because they receive many visitors.

“Besides, traditional leaders also convene several meetings on various projects in their areas,” he said.

Sindo told the traditional leaders that Covid-19 is real and it is important to intensify precautionary measures such as washing hands with soap and observing social distancing.

On his part, group village head Taulo commended the ministry for the donation.

“On our own we could not buy soap and buckets due to lack of finances. As leaders, we will disseminate Covid-19 messages to our subjects,” he said.

Precious Chipatala, a health worker, said the best way to fight the pandemic was for the private sector to join hands with government.

“Let me encourage chiefs to continue with the door-to-door awareness to ensure people in communities have the right information about the pandemic,” he said.
