Eastern Region Police commissioner Wilson Matinga, speaking on the sidelines of a donation of linen and treated mosquito nets by Gift of the Givers Foundation to the hospital on Wednesday, implored the corporate world, the business community and well-wishers to come to the rescue of the medical facility.

Said Matinga: “The hospital does not serve police officers and their families alone. Civilians from surrounding villages also come here for medical assistance, therefore, the problem affects us all. The theatre at this hospital is of is of good standard, the only drawback is lack of equipment.”

MPS medical hospitals officer-in-charge Mavis Litta said the theatre, which is not being used for any minor or major operations at the moment, only caters for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcisions (VMMC), that do not require complicated equipment.
