The upgrading of the Blantyre-Zomba Road (M3) section from Maselema Roundabout to Chiradzulu Turnoff and the reconstruction of the road section from Ku Chawe Inn junction (Zomba) to Matawale Turnoff is progressing well. Roads Authority (RA) spokesperson Portia Kajanga said there was good progress on the project being executed by Portuguese conglomerate Mota-Engil and funded by Malawian tax-payers to the tune of K12 billion. The works started in May this year and are expected to be completed in May 2016. The 59.62 km Blantyre-Zomba Road project started in March 2012 and was supposed to end in March 2014, but harsh weather conditions and difficult ground conditions, among other factors derailed its completion.
