Zomba United FC on Sunday shared the spoils with visitors Liwonde Medicals following their 1-1 draw in the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division match.

The highly contested encounter was witnessed by hundreds of spectators who formed a human perimeter fence around the pitch which made the assistant referees’ work difficult at times.

United are still finding it tough in the league as they have two points from three games.

The home side looked determined to keep the visitors off the score-sheet with attacking forays. A few minutes later, their Henry Makumba broke the deadlock when he pounced on a hesitation by United defenders Amidu Mapila and Yusuf Chidule to score past a hapless William Phiri in goals.

United fought back relentlessly in the second-half and their efforts paid dividends in the 49th minute when a well-taken corner-kick by substitute Kenneth Kandeya was headed into the net by Madalitso Chiundira.
