Youths in Zomba will for the first time in history get a rare opportunity of having a general assembly scheduled for Gymnkhana Club this Saturday.

According to the agenda sheet, the youths will, among other things, be updated on government programmes and its expectations on the role of the youth in the country.

In an interview on Monday, one of the speakers on this day, Joseph Chikwemba, who is People’s Party (PP) deputy administrative secretary and also Orange Partners national organising secretary, said the general assembly will provide a forum for the youth to come out with ideas that will spur them to economic well-being.

Said Chikwemba: “We would discuss issues to do with entrepreneurship so that the youth get motivated to start small-scale businesses, government plans to assist them, patriotism and also the role of the youth in Economic Recovery Plan (ERP).

“The youth will have to be enlightened on government programmes such as job creation, one cow per one family, hunger alleviation and health-related projects such as Safe Motherhood.”

Other speakers will include Henry Kachaje, a well-known motivational speaker on entrepreneurship and money-making skills, John Bande, Sosten Gwengwe and PP’s deputy director of youth Steven Njobvuyalema.
