It was a Friday to remember for Blantyre fun seekers when popular South Africa popular artist Casper Nyovest gave an impressive performance at Barbeques Club.
The South African artist, with the support of South Africa-based Malawian producer and rapper Gemini Major, gave patrons a taste of new songs from his latest album Any Moment Now as well as other hits from his past projects.
From the local front, rapper Phyzix, real name Noel Chikoleka, kept it real when he performed with a live band and a DJ.
As he continues to enjoy fame and fortune from his latest album Gamba Season, Phyzix proved why he is the most nominated artist both at the UMP and Malawi Hip-hop awards due to his energetic and passionate performance.
He performed hits such as Cholapitsa, Makofi, Mwana Ovuta Kulera, Noni Noni, among others.
Then it was the turn of Gemini Major who performed a 45-minutes set. His songs included Lifestyle and Naked, among others.
When it was Casper’s turn, he did not waste time but went straight into action.
His list of songs included Doc Shebeleza, Tito Mboweni, Nokuthula and To Whom It May Concern.
His interaction with patrons was awesome. His chemistry with the DJ made the set even more entertaining. His set lasted an hour and half.
One of the patrons who attended the event Roy James said he was happy with all the performances.
“I came here to see Casper, but the supporting artists did an equally impressive job,” he said.
In a post-performance interview, Phyzix, the only local artist who performed at the show said it was a dream come true to perform alongside an artist of Casper’s calibre.
The artists were supported on the decks by DJs Trick and DJ Flame.
However, many complained that the venue was too small for an artist like Casper.
