Local movie Fatsani, A Tale of Survival is now streaming on Showmax.

One of the movie’s directors Gift Sukez Sukali said they clinched a deal with Showmax to enable movie lovers around the world to watch and appreciate it.

Sukali: We know many Malawians want to have access to the movie

In an interview, he said Showmax operates in more than 60 countries which will make Fatsani accessible to more movie lovers.

“We know many Malawians want to have access to the movie and this is one of the ways to watch it simply by being Showmax subscribers,” Sukali said.

In a separate interview, Fatsani movie producer Hastings Golosi said getting it on such a big platform is no small matter. “Fatsani is our first movie ever and we feel proud of such an achievement,” he said.

Golosi said the movie has taken long to release because they wanted to find ways that would benefit both the movie lovers and producers.

“We engaged several movie distributors, but it was Showmax that came in and showed interest. Now everyone across the world can have access to this film,” he said.

Golosi said they have resorted to online streaming because in Malawi there is no proper movie market.

“We have been trying our best to make the movie available, but it cannot be wise to spend so much on it then hide it from the people,” he said.

Fatsani is one of the country’s famous movies though not many Malawians have watched it yet.

Information from Showmax as of Sunday indicated that Fatsani was in the top 10 most streamed movies on the site.
