FDH Bank plc has donated 80 mattresses worth K2 million to Chiradzulu Secondary School.

The bank’s deputy managing director George Chitera presented the donation last week during a career talk where he also pledged to award students who will pass this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations with single digit points.

He said: “FDH Bank and the rest of the corporate world rely on youths to sustain businesses.

“But we need youths who will be well-educated, disciplined, innovative and embrace team work.”

Chitera pledged to pay fees and provide school learning materials to needy, but academically outstanding students.

The school’s career counselling committee chairperson Mary Sande said the initiative will help improve students’ academic performance.

A Form Two student, who was a sign language interpreter during the event, Grace Kapichi, thanked the bank for the donation and career talk. Career guidance is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to invest in the youth for sustainable socio-economic development
