The Flames have been drawn against Zimbabwe in the first round of the 2023 African Nations Championship (Chan) Qualifers.
This follows a draw the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) conducted this afternoon in Cairo, Egypt.
The winner in that match will make it to the second round to face the winner between Mozambique and Zambia for a place in the finals scheduled for next year January and February in Algeria.
The latest development means the Flames stand a chance to qualify for the next round if Fifa does not lift Zimbabwe’s suspension at least two weeks before the start of the first round of qualifiers between July 22 and 24.
The world football governing body suspended Zimbabwe and Kenya from international football for because of their governments’ interference in the running of the game.
