Limbe Police to intensify patrols

Limbe Police Station yesterday launched a rapid response programme aimed at reducing crime.

As part of the programme, the station has unveiled two patrol vehicles that will be undertaking such patrols.

In an interview on the sidelines of the launch, Limbe Police Station officer-in-charge Gladson Chipumphula said they want to ensure that the public is protected.

“We are anticipating that through this programme, we will reduce crime in our policing area,” he said.

Chipumphula gave an assurance that officers assigned to the programme will be professional in carrying out their duties.

He said despite the two vehicles not being enough to cater for the station’s jurisdiction, they will still strive to commit themselves.

In a separate interview, Station Executive Committee chairperson Mussa Lambart described the move as important.

He further commended the working relationship between the station and the public.

“I ask well-wishers to support the police to strengthen their operations,” said Lambart.

Limbe Central Ward councillor Gerald Lipikwe commended the police for the initiative.
