Lulu shines at Mibawa

Musician Lulu on Friday night proved he is a stage master when he performed at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre during a two-hour live television performance.

The artist opened his set with Ana Anga a song dedicated to his two sons. He then played Ungondibwerezera, Zikukanika Bwanji Kukhululuka and Chilele.

Lulu was supported by Mathumela Band

During a break, presenter DT, real name Daniel Thom, said the live television concerts are meant to entertain families in the comfort of their homes.

“We know that some of these concerts may not be conducive to take a whole family to. We are therefore here to let you have the experience while at home,” he said.

Clearly enjoying great stage chemistry and synergy, Lulu and his Mathumela Band displayed a clean set with no technical challenges.

He then played other popular songs such as Mdzalera, Awema and Tsogolo ndi Lowala. But it was when he played the national anthem using his lead guitar that Lulu once again displayed his guitar skills. This was probably in celebration Malawi’s victory over Zimbabwe at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (Afcon).

However, the event was somehow overshadowed by Malawi’s win at the Afcon looking at the number of those who were watching the event using Facebook live feed. Others felt Lulu was being too ‘executive’ and performing like he was at a presidential dinner date.

Lulu did not only showcase his musical talent, but also debuted his new look tinted beard. The live event was sponsored by WS Betting, an online betting company.
