Forum for Social Economic Development of Mangochi (Fosema) has thrown its weight behind Goshen City, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s investment in Monkey Bay in the lakeshore district.

Speaking on Saturday during the group’s second annual general meeting, Traditional Authority Nankumba hailed the multi-billion kwacha investment, saying it will transform the lakeshore district.

Bushiri: Mangochi has potential

“This is the kind of investment our forefathers have never witnessed. It will be us and our children who are lucky to witness this wonderful development,” he said.

The chief said expectations are high in the district, as such, they cannot allow any obstacle to stand in the path of the project.

“We are more excited with this development because we know that soon we won’t be the same,” he said.

Nankumba urged Bushiri to empower the surrounding communities with soft loans and pay school fees for the needy as part of corporate social responsibility.

In his remarks, Bushiri thanked the people of Mangochi for the warm welcome.

He said: “I am here to help drive the agenda of government of developing the country.

“Mangochi has the potential of transforming the country if this investment comes to fruition.”

Goshen City will, among others, have a five-star hotel, international stadium, apartments, a convention centre which will accommodate about 6 000 people, supermarkets, restaurants, dams, university and clinic.

Fosema comprises chiefs, religious leaders, retired public officers, professionals and business operators based in Mangochi District.
