There is no better feeling than to be reminded of your best moments of your life or childhood by listening to good music which used to delight your mind, heart and soul.

This was the case on Friday afternoon on Mikozi Live when musician Lawrence Mbenjere put up an enchanting live performance after being inactive for years.

Mbenjere’s performance was impressive

The Sewere hit-maker might be inactive on the music scene, but his performance proved that his talent still reigns.

Mbenjere, the once best-selling artist and music heavyweight from Simphasi Village in Mchinji, has been in hibernation for over six years.

But appearing on Mikozi Live from his Mchinji base, he was as fresh as ever with his scintillating local vibes, which are delivered in heavy Chichewa accent and gulewamkulu touch, rekindled people’s memories.

He attracted impressive views on Mikozi Facebook Live and left fans impressed.

Mikozi Network chief executive officer Bright ‘Excess’ Chiligo said they had no choice, but to visit Mbenjere in his home district for a live recording session due to public demand.

“The Mikozi Studio Live shows, which are currently being sponsored by Premier Bet Malawi, give people an opportunity to choose the artists that they want. Mbenjere’s choice was by public demand, but he couldn’t visit Mikozi studios due to his busy schedule. So, we had to take Mikozi Studio to him in his home district of Mchinji,” he said.

Chiligo said that one of the objectives of the show is to economically empower both old and new artists.

During the show, Mbenjere performed most of his popular songs backed by a full band. The live performance was held outdoor and was spiced up by energetic dancers. One of the dancers, who has one leg, was a marvel to watch because he displayed captivating dance moves to the amazement of the viewers.

A fan, Oscar Fanuel Kameta writing on Mikozi Facebook page, called for Mbenjere’s return on stage because of his undiluted talent and performance.

Mbenjere, who is now a full-time entrepreneur, thanked Mikozi and his fans for considering him to feature on Mikozi Studio. “I appreciate my fans for their unwavering support which has enabled me to perform on Mikozi. I didn’t expect to receive a call from Mikozi to inform me that fans had voted for me to perform on their online platform. This is so encouraging,” said the musician.
