Vixens led 15-11 in the first quarter, 32-23 in the second quarter, 46-40, third quarter and 62-55 at full-time.

“I enjoyed it all and my shooting partners Keira and Samason were supportive in supplying me with the ball. The games were great, and everyone played well. And we won both games,” said Kumwenda in an interview from Melbourne on Saturday.

The Suncorp Netball League starts on March 26.

In a related development, Kumwenda said she is available for selection for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games which starts in July.

She has been missing Malawi Queens Games in the past year due to an injury.

“It’s always an honour to play for one’s country. I feel proud every time I put on national colours. I am ready for the Commonwealth Games if selected,” said Kumwenda.

Netball Association of Malawi general secretary Isaac Chimwala said having senior players available will be a huge boost for the Queens. “We are always in touch with or the senior players, including Mwai Kumwenda, Joyce Mvula and others. It’s good to hear Mwawi is back on the court. It’s good news for the Queens. Having the senior players active is good news,” he said.
