Sports betting Company, Premier Bet, has embarked on a K2 million online talent search competition.

The objective is to unearth raw talent in the field of music, dance, drawing and magic. Willing participants have been asked to upload a one to three-minute video showcasing their talent in their rwithout any studio effects.

The company’s affiliate programmes and online VIP manager Mafuno Nathundu said they want to accord  people a chance to appreciate other types of art away from music.

“Our aim is to promote Malawian arts and help unearth hidden talents that are out there. We have been so much into music promotion of late, but it appears some people have copied our concept so we thought we needed to diversify,” he said.

The competition will see 50 of the first 100 participants will be selected and in turn produce four top winners, with the winner going away with K2 million prize.

Nathundu: We want to unearth raw talent

According to the organisers, winners will be selected based on the number of likes their videos will attract. Nathundu said they will use all the necessary mechanisms to ensure the voting system is not manipulated.

He said: “We are convinced that the margin for cheating is almost zero. Despite that we will remain vigilant so that at the end of the day only deserving winners are picked and that we achieve the objectives of the competition.”

The competition is being co-facilitated by entertainment online platform Mikozi Network and Nathundu said they engaged them because they command a large following.

Mikozi Network lead Bright ‘Excess’ Chiligo said they will be responsible for coordinating, publishing and producing content for the contestants.

“There are so many young and talented individuals who only look at art as a hobby. Once they are exposed through such channels these talented individuals will surely consider turning their hobbies into careers,” he said.

Premier Bet has long-standing ties with the local art industry courtesy of their sponsorship of online live performances on Mikozi Network.
