Speaking on Thursday  after the donation, China Medical Team in Malawi team leader Dr. Zhong Hongping said the Chinese Government attaches great importance to the well-being of Malawians.

He said that was why his government sends senior doctors to the country and donates medical equipment whenever needed.

Hongping said: “We believe that our presence can strengthen cooperation with local doctors, help provide better medical services to local people and deepen the friendship between Malawi and China.

“We hope we can learn more about the needs of the hospital so that the equipment can go to its right position.”

He also said Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctors held a meeting with Ministry of Health officials to introduce TCM treatment to cure various diseases such as stroke and paralysis.

“The registration is in progress now. There is hope to start a TCM clinic at KCH so that patients can get free TCM treatment,” said Hongping.

KCH director Dr Jonathan Ngoma said the donation came at the right time.

“We thank the China Medical Team for the support. As a hospital, we will ensure that the items are used for their purpose,” he said.
