Local medical aid insurance company Wella Medical Aid Society (Wemas) on Monday presented a gross dummy cheque worth K339,735 to six employees of Multi-seed Company Limited .

The money is termed cashback benefit and is only paid after Wemas client has clocked one year on a scheme and has used less than 25 percent of their premiums over the one year period.

Multi-seed is a corporate customer for Wemas.

The six employees who will share the K339,735 cashback are Agness William Julius (K52,000), Mphatso Kaweluwelu (K62,000), Aziel Kapiza (K31,550), Stanley Juma (K104,885), Brian Ndongera (K25,200), and Donald Mlumbe (K64,000).

Wemas chief executive officer Macdonald Wella described Multi-seed as one of Wemas first corporate customers who joined the company’s medical scheme at a time “when no one could trust us.”

“And you know how valuable it is to be trusted by someone when no one is willing to trust you.Our friends from Multi-seed please know that you are a valued customer,” said Wella during an event that took place at Lilongwe Golf Club.

Wella added: “Our medical schemes have proven to provide medical benefits that no other medical insurer can provide.”

Currently, Wemas is the only medical scheme in Malawi which is extending its services to people above 55 years of age through its pensioners medical scheme.

Wemas is also the only medical scheme in Malawi which has gone biometric and also the only scheme which gives out cashbacks to its customers.

Besides, Wemas is among a few medical schemes in Malawi which doesn’t demand shortfalls from clients.

“We give back up to 25 percent of the money you contributed to our medical scheme.Of course the benefit is available to members who have spent less than 25 percent of the premiums in medical bills. The benefit is payable on every scheme anniversary,” Wella added.

On his part, Multi-seed head of finance and administration January Bwanali said the seed company is committed to maintaining the health and well-being of its staff by partnering with Wemas which he said ensures that health issues of Multi-seed staff are well taken care of with great convenience.

“Over the past year, through the joint efforts of both Wemas and Multi-seed, we have built a good relationship that is renowned for its high standards, professionalism and ethics,” said Bwanali.

Currently, Multi-seed has 22 principle members on various schemes of Wemas and a total of 72 beneficiaries.

As it stands now, Wemas has a network of over 200 hospitals from Nsanje to Chitipa.
