Government for the US$1.9 million for procurement of food

through the World Food Program; the Indian Government for

providing 1,000 metric tonnes of rice provided to the

Government of Malawi; the Government of Ukraine for 19,200

metric tonnes of maize provided through the World Food

Programme (WFP) and the First Discount House (FDH) Bank for

100 metric tonnes of maize worth MK95 million provided to

the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA). Government is

grateful to these and many other partners who are

supporting the Country in its efforts to respond to the disaster,

which has left many Malawians food insecure.

18. Madam Speaker, in the spirit of spearheading Recovery

Development and Protection (RDP) of our economy,

Government has stepped up its efforts in addressing

challenges on Forex, Fuel, Food and Fertiliser, the 4Fs. Beyond

the external support Government is championing and

implementing various initiatives as follows:

i. Mega Farms: Government has, this year, mobilized over
